There is no denying that driving has a significant impact on our environment, so therefore we have a strong commitment to ensure that our operational procedures and policies make a positive contribution to reducing these impacts.
One of the ways we do this is by choosing, where possible, eco friendly companies for our suppliers, who also have a sustainability policy or environmental management plan.
As an example, let's take a look at the printed materials we use to conduct our day to day business. We have appointed PMA Solutions to manage our print requirements, through the sourcing of printed to storing and distributing our collateral.
As PMA itself is not a manufacturer, we asked them to explain how their business practices were environmentally responsible. These are just a few of their responses:
• Print production is undertaken by a panel of preferred printers who as part of their accreditation are assessed according to their environmental and sustainable production capabilities
• PMA encourage compliance of their printers with recognised environmental credentials, such as Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
• PMA provide options to use FSC certified stocks and papers with high recycled content and that are chlorine-free
• PMA provide options to use printers who use soy-based inks, waterless printing and other advanced ‘green' print production processes
• Any excess stocks or collateral that are no longer required is recycled
• Advanced reporting monitors consumption and allows for streamlined distribution requirements and reduce wastage
In addition to this and to assist in the effort to care for our land, the reports provided by PMA are used to help educate our staff to make environmentally informed decisions regarding their printed materials requirements, from their manufacture to their storage and finally, their distribution.
