Damage Liability & optional coverage
At Europcar, we strive to make renting a car an easy and enjoyable experience for our customers. It is important that our customers feel safe and secure in the knowledge that they have chosen the best protection package to suit their individual needs.
When you rent a vehicle from Europcar in Australia and New Zealand, Third Party Liability cover for Bodily Injury is provided in accordance with the legal requirements of the country of rental.
This cover is automatically included in the rental at no extra cost. The level of coverage provided depends on local government legislation.
Damage Liability (Australia & New Zealand only)
When hiring a vehicle in Australia and New Zealand the Renter is liable for damage to the vehicle and third party loss.
In the event of an accident, loss or damage to the vehicle or third party loss, a Damage Liability Fee (DLF) will be charged for Australian & New Zealand rentals. This fee is charged regardless of who is at fault or the amount of damage. If the loss or damage is ultimately less then the DLF, part of the DLF will be refunded.
The standard Damage Liability Fee for the vehicle class booked is shown at the ‘Quote Summary' stage of your transaction.
The customer may have the option to reduce the Damage Liability Fee by purchasing a Cover Product. The options to choose from are:
Super Peace of Mind (SPOM)
Our premium cover, Your DLF liability is reduced to the amount shown in the Rental Agreement, which for some classes of Vehicle may be nil, and it includes WWI
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
Your DLF liability is reduced to the amount shown in the Rental Agreement, which for some classes of Vehicle may be nil, but it does not include WWI; This cover will be available on bookings for pick up from April 11 2012
Peace of Mind (POM)
Your DLF is reduced to the amount shown in the Rental Agreement, but never to nil, and it includes WWI.
Note: This product will no longer be available after April 11 2012, however bookings with this cover made prior to April 11 2012 will be honoured.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) or Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Your DLF is reduced to the amount shown in the Rental Agreement but it does not include WWI.
Note: LDW will no longer be available after April 11 2012, however bookings with this cover made prior to April 11 2012 will be honoured. CDW will replace LDW after April 11 2012
Windscreen, Headlights and Tyres (WWI)
There is cover for windscreen, headlight, wheel and tyre damage unless caused recklessly or by a deliberate, wilful or criminal act or by driver abuse, but there is no reduction in Your DLF and no cover for damage to side and rear windows.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
At all times, the customer must comply with the Rental Terms and Conditions and the Europcar Rental Agreement. If a customer is 21 or 22 years of age in Australia or 21 in New Zealand, the Damage Liability Fee can not be reduced.
