Europcar expands its fleet with Hybrid Toyota Prius

In keeping with Europcar's commitment to lower carbon emissions, the rental car company has announced plans to add Toyota's fuel efficient Prius to its impressive fleet of motor vehicles.

The Toyota Prius is an ultra low carbon emissions hybrid car which uses petrol/ electric technology, making it one of the most environmentally friendly cars on the market.

Over the next week Europcar will deliver the new Toyota Priuses to branches in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Europcar's Asia Pacific Marketing Manager Ashley Jurberg said the Prius would be a welcome addition to the company's fast growing fleet.

"The Prius is respected around the world for its fuel efficient technology and super low carbon emissions," Mr Jurberg said.

"Europcar is now proud to be able to offer our clients the choice to hire a Prius."

Mr Jurberg said Europcar made the decision after listening to customer feedback. The Prius switches between petrol and electric power to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the greenhouse gas blamed for global warming. With its electric motor and petrol engine, it averages about 4.7 litres per 100km - about 60 miles a gallon in non-metric language. Europcar is recognised across Australia for being environmentally responsible.

The company's Greenfleet carbon-neutralisation program is helping to plant more than 100,000 trees covering 100-hectares by mid 2008. Since 1997 Greenfleet has planted over 3 million trees on behalf of Australian motorists. ENDS
