At Europcar, we strive to make renting a car an easy and enjoyable experience for our customers. It is important that our customers feel safe and secure in the knowledge that they have chosen the best protection package to suit their individual needs.
Automobile third party liability for bodily injury
When you rent a vehicle from Europcar in Australia and New Zealand, Third Party Liability cover for Bodily Injury is provided in accordance with the legal requirements of the country of rental.
This cover is automatically included in the rental at no extra cost. The level of coverage provided depends on local government legislation.
Damage Liability (Australia & New Zealand only)
When hiring a vehicle in Australia and New Zealand the Renter is liable for damage to the vehicle and third party property.
In the event of an accident, loss or damage to the vehicle or third party property, a Damage Liability Fee (DLF) will be charged for Australian & New Zealand rentals. This fee is charged regardless of who is at fault or the amount of damage. If the loss or damage is ultimately less then the DLF, part of the DLF will be refunded.
The standard Damage Liability Fee for the vehicle class booked is shown at the ‘quote summary’ stage of your transaction.
The customer can reduce the above Damage Liability Fee by paying a supplementary fee. There are four options to choose from:
- Super peace of mind (SPOM)
- Our premium cover, which reduces your DLF liability to nil.
- Peace of mind (SPOM)
- Your DLF is reduced to the amount shown in the Rental Agreement and it includes WWI.
- Windscreen, Headlights and Tyres (WHT)
- There is cover for windscreen and headlight damage and tyre punctures but no reduction in your DLF and no cover for wheel damage, tyre damage, such as spiking or slashing, or damage to side and rear windows.
- Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
- Your DLF is reduced to the amount shown in the Rental Agreement but it does not include WWI.

Snow cover protects the customer on the full replacement value of the vehicle in the event of an accident. In addition to the snow cover, you may also purchase the SPOM or POM to protect yourself when driving on sealed roads.
Neither the DLF nor Other Cover Products provide cover for personal belongings and each level of cover is subject to you not being in breach of the Rental Contract.
IMPORTANT NOTE
