FAQs

Q: What is LAMS?

A: LAMS is an Australian based Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme. For riders between 21 and 25 or riders who do not hold an unrestricted motorcycle licence we can rent you a LAMS approved bike. From our range these include the BMW G650GS and G650GS Sertao. For the larger bikes in our range you must hold an unrestricted motorcycle licence from your country of residence, be at least 25 years old and have at least 2 years of riding experience.

Q: Do I need a drivers licence?

A: Yes you will be required to show that you have a current drivers licence that is endorsed for motorcycle use. Overseas licences are also accepted provided that they are printed in English

Q: What riding experience do I require.

A: For the Lams approved 650cc motorcycles you need to be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid drivers licence. Probationary licences are also accepted for these bikes. For our larger bikes you need to be at least 25 years of age with an unrestricted licence and have at least 2 years of riding experience.

Q: Is the bike insured?

A: Yes the bike is rented with full comprehensive insurance. You will need to refer to the rental agreement Terms and Conditions for information regarding exclusions. The Excess is listed on the rental agreement and our rates sheet for the different bikes.

Q: What if I have no riding gear?

A: We can also rent you a full range of rider safety gear including full face helmets and adventure style jackets, pants, boots and gloves.

Q: Can I return the bike after hours?

A: Yes, normally with prior arrangement we can be flexible with pick ups and returns. This may however lead to an extra days rental in some cases.

Q: What happens if I breakdown

A: All of our bikes are covered by BMW’s nationwide roadside assistance service. I call is all it takes to have help on its way.

Q: Can I extend the rental period

A: Yes this can be arranged but you need to contact us 24 hours prior to the end of the original rental and it is subject to availability of the motorcycle that you have rented.

Q: Can I take the motorcycle on dirt roads

A: Yes, providing it is a properly formed and constructed road then you are permitted to ride it. Some other restrictions apply but these are in very remote locations. These are listed in our Terms and Conditions.
