Europcar appointed Australian Government’s rental car provider

12 JULY 2012

Europcar Australia has been named as the Australian Government's joint rental car provider, underlining its position as a leading vehicle rental company in Australia.

The three-year contract came into effect on 2 July 2012 and follows a competitive tender process under the then Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines (now known as the Commonwealth Procurement Rules). Europcar Australia was one of only two rental car providers appointed for the Whole-of-Australian-Government car rental services.

Europcar Australia Managing Director, Mr Ron Santiago, said this announcement was a significant milestone for Europcar and confirms the company's position as a top tier rental car provider in the Australian corporate landscape.

"This major contract highlights the Government's confidence in Europcar Australia to deliver competitive products and services that meet their diverse range of customer needs," Mr Santiago said.

"As the market leader in Europe, Europcar is well equipped to provide innovative solutions to all our customers across the globe.

"Drawing on Europcar's global expertise, we developed a number of products and services, including enhanced reporting levels, to meet the Government's significant and diverse travel needs.

"The contract with the Australian Government demonstrates that Europcar Australia can satisfy the Government's aim of making official travel simpler, smarter and more efficient."

Over the next 12 months, Europcar Australia will further expand its Australian operations with new and enhanced facilities and additional fleet acquisitions.

"This expansion is part of our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with access to one of the newest, safest, most diverse and fuel-efficient fleet offerings available," Mr Santiago said.
