Everyone wins with Team Europcar
THURSDAY 21 JUNE 2012
As the main sponsor of Team Europcar for the second year running, leading global vehicle rental company, Europcar, is rewarding customers with discounts of up to 30 per cent off based on the success of Team Europcar at this year's Tour de France.
Europcar customers will receive a discount on their vehicle rental based on the number of days that a cyclist from Team Europcar wears the iconic ‘maillot jaune' (yellow jersey).
Europcar Australia and New Zealand Sales and Marketing Director, Mr Mike Warmington, said Thomas Voeckler of Team Europcar wore the yellow jersey for 10 days during last year's Tour de France.
"Thomas Voeckler placed fourth in last year's Tour having worn the jersey for 10 days, so based on past success there is a strong chance that Team Europcar's performance will lead to great discounts for our customers," Mr Warmington said.
Mr Warmington explained that Europcar will be offering customers a 10 per cent discount if Team Europcar wins one to three yellow jerseys, a 20 per cent discount if the team wins four to eight yellow jerseys and a 30 per cent discount if the team wins more than nine yellow jerseys; the same as last year's result.
"If the team does as well as last year, our customers will receive an unrestricted discount of 30 per cent, which is just about unheard of in the vehicle rental industry," Mr Warmington said.
The Tour de France will be held from Saturday 30 June to Sunday 22 July 2012. To qualify for the yellow jersey a cyclist must have the lowest overall time at the end of a stage, entitling them to start the race the following day wearing the yellow jersey.
The discounts will apply to vehicle rental with Europcar between Monday 23 July and Friday 31 August 2012, directly after the Tour de France. Mr Warmington said customers can monitor Team Europcar's performance at teameuropcar.com and Europcar Australia's Twitter page throughout the Tour.
In addition to supporting Team Europcar in the Tour de France, Europcar is the naming
rights sponsor of the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Twenty Twelve Tour de France Lunch on Thursday 19 July 2012. Europcar has chosen the Amy Gillett Foundation to receive the proceeds from the raffle and silent auction that will take place at the event.
Europcar is also the official vehicle rental company for the Tour de France, providing
transport for the organisers of the world's most famous cycle race.
