Discover Paris and surroundings by car

Paris is one of the world’s most culturally rich and memorable cities. Hiring a car allows you to visit the endless array of attractions with ease. Once you pick up a vehicle from the airport, you can start your adventure not only with the popular sites like the Eiffel Tower and The Louvre, but also lesser-known spots such as La Gaîté Lyrique – a wonderfully unique museum focussed on art and creativity in a digital age – and Le Ballon de Paris which is as tall as a twelve-story building and offers incredible views across the city.

Wherever you go, it’s a great idea to park up and explore a little by foot as Paris is renowned for its host of secret gems, hidden plazas and quirky shopping streets.

If you want to travel slightly further afield a hire car will take you to one of France’s best loved attractions, Disneyland Paris, just forty kilometres from the city centre. As well as that there’s Versailles to the South West, home to the famous palace of Versailles. Great places for a day trip also include Provins a quaint medieval city to the south-east of Paris and Rouen, a charming town in the Normandy region to the north of Paris.

Driving in Paris

Always stay on the right-hand side of the road in Paris, unless you are overtaking, and follow local signage. Avoid travelling during rush hour periods which fall roughly from 7-9 in the morning and 5-8 in the evening. Never beep your horn in the city centre as this is illegal unless a crash is imminent.

On street parking is often difficult to find in Paris, if none can be found you may prefer to use one of the many underground parking garages throughout the city. Many tourists also park on the outskirts of the city where parking is cheaper and easier to find – and make use of public transport systems.

Enjoy a memorable adventure

With a car rental from Paris CDG Airport, you’ll have the freedom and flexibility to tour this world-famous capital city at your leisure. While the Eiffel Tower will leave you in awe, a stroll around The Louvre is also not to be missed. Head to the Champs-Élysées for a spot of retail therapy or take the kids to Disneyland Paris for a memorable adventure.

Travel far and wide

There’s so much to see and do in Paris, but if an onward adventure calls, the lively and culturally rich cities of Versailles and Lille are within easy reach by car. The riverside city of Nantes is also a great place for a relaxing stroll and how about touring the famous wine regions of Bordeaux. From rolling countryside to exquisite mountain ranges and bustling city centres, France has it all!
