• How do I drive an Electric Vehicle? 

Driving is exactly the same as a normal vehicle with Automatic gearbox, don’t forget that most OEM have electric just as another engine type in same model (Peugeot 208)

• Are they really better for the environment? 

An Electric vehicle emits no CO². But sometimes making electricity generates CO². When electricity is made out of wind, solar, nuclear, there are almost no CO². But if electricity is made out of coal, CO²emissions are above 100g/km. Globally European average to generate electricity is 65g/km, half petrol emission.

• What is the real range of an electric vehicle? 

The distance an Electric vehicle can travel on one full charge is described as its autonomy or range. The vehicle description on our website displays official autonomy as advised by the manufacturer and is based on urban/suburban driving in ECO mode. In real conditions, the autonomy should be 10% lower, but can also be 10% higher if you are driving smoothly and anticipating. 

• What is the range in cold weather? 

In cold weather, the impact of heating will decrease your autonomy by up to 15 % (depending on the outside temperature). Remember that if vehicle is plugged during night, you can program preheating of the cabin so that vehicle is hot when you leave, allowing you to save autonomy. 

• What is the range on highway? 

On the highway, range is roughly 2/3 of the displayed autonomy 

• What is the impact of slopes on autonomy? 

Roughly you will lose 36 km of autonomy by every 1000m of altitude. And when going down, you will recover 20 km by every 1000m of altitude. 

• When driving an Electric Van, what is the impact of load? 

When speed is stable, on highway for instance, load has no impact. But when driving in city with lots of start/stop, you could lose up to 33% of autonomy by ton.

• Where and how can I charge my electric vehicle? 

Electric vehicles can be charged on domestic charge points which deliver charging speed up to 8X higher than domestic sockets and enable safe charging. In case you are not interested in installing a charge point at home, you can still use a domestic socket, with a 7 hour charge time providing enough electricity for a 100km journey. Public charging stations allow greater autonomy in quicker charging times. There are over 165,000 public charging locations across Europe with details here. 

• Which cable shall be used? 

In the trunk of the vehicle you will find two types of charging cables. One for domestic, one for city roadside charging. If charging on the highway use the cable attached to the charging pole. 

• What is charging time? 

Charging times depend on power capacity of charging station and vehicle charging power. Please find details in our user guide for each vehicle. However, on a domestic socket, you will recover 100km of autonomy within 7 hours. On the highway, you will recover 100km in less than 20 minutes. 

• How can I pay recharge? 

Generally charging poles are not equipped with credit card reader. Some charging poles on highways allow pay by phone. Mostly, you need to be registered by a service provider and start charge with a specific RFID Card. To charge on a public charging pole, you will need an RFID card and to be registered by a service provider. We suggest a subscription free solution, pay per use, with our charging partner NewMotion - a member of the Shell group. You can register easily by downloading the NewMotion App, providing e-mail, bank details and card number. After registration your New Motion RFID card will be given to you when you collect your rental car. Full details and process will be sent to you prior to the rental pickup date. 

• How do I know engine is on? 

There is no throttle or noise when vehicle is started. However a icon or the word “READY” is displayed on instrument panel. 

• Is there a risk for pedestrians? 

All our Electric Vehicles are equipped with a pedestrian alert. Below 20 or 30km/h, vehicle is generating a whistle. 

• I have seen on gear shift a “B” position close to “D” 

Indeed, “B” is a specific drive mode where regenerative braking is increased when driver released acceleration pedal. Vehicle is then slowing down much quicker when driver releases this pedal. 

• I have seen a button “ECO” or “DRIVE MODE” 

Electric engine can provide directly maximum torque allowing very strong acceleration. All Electric vehicles are allowing different drive mode: - ECO : acceleration is limited, behavior is similar to a conventional vehicle. But often heating or cooling are also limited to increase range.- Normal mode : average mode- Sport mode : vehicle provide maximum acceleration and behaves like a sport car.
