Parking is strictly policed in the UK - don’t leave it to chance without paying. Parking usually operates on a pay-per-hour rate, either by machine or via telephone. It’s prohibited to park on double yellow lines, these zones are the most patrolled.
The National Speed Limit on two-lane roads is 60 mph, sometimes lowering to 50 mph, and 70 mph on four-lane roads and motorways (the UK equivalent of interstates).
In cities and countryside villages (where there is a high risk of pedestrians crossing the road) the speed limit is 30 mph, and sometimes it lowers to 20 mph near schools.
Watch out for motorbikes, especially in the countryside where single-lane roads and large hedgerows can obstruct drivers’ views. The chance of having an accident is also increased due to the small space for vehicles to pass each other.
On your journey in the UK you’ll discover a vast land influenced by four different cultures with tens of thousands of years of history between them, with distinct landscapes and a diverse multi-cultural society. From iconic Stonehenge to Windsor Castle, and King Arthur’s Seat, every corner of the United Kingdom is steeped in history. Marvel at the raw beauty of the Peak District or spy the giant sculpture the Angel of the North just outside Newcastle
